What kind ofcoolantto use also needs to be comprehensively analyzed according to the material of the workpiece being processed, the difficulty of the processing process, the processing method, and the working conditions of the processing, and then select it.
1、Steel cutting tools
Its heat resistance is about 200-300℃, and it can only be used for cutting general materials, and it will lose its hardness at high temperatures. Since this tool has poor heat resistance, it is required that the cooling effect of the coolant should be good, and it is generally better to use emulsion as coolant, and the use of American emulsion cutting fluid M16 or M16-A can fully meet the requirements.
2、High-speed steel cutting tools
This material is a high-grade alloy steel based on chromium, nickel, tungsten, molybdenum, and vanadium (some also contain aluminum), which has a significantly higher heat resistance than tool steel, allowing a maximum temperature of up to 600℃. Compared with other high-temperature resistant metals and ceramic materials, high-speed steel has a series of advantages, especially its higher toughness, suitable for workpieces with complex geometric shapes and continuous cutting processing, and high-speed steel has good machinability and is easy to accept in terms of price. The use of American and Canadian semi-synthetic water-based cutting fluid M20-A or M21 can meet the requirements.
3、Tungsten Carbide Steel Cutting Tools
Cemented carbide for cutting tools is composed of tungsten carbide (WC), titanium carbide (TiC), tantalum carbide (TaC), and 5-10% cobalt, which has a hardness that greatly exceeds that of high-speed steel, with a maximum allow working temperature of up to 1000℃, and excellent wear resistance, which can reduce the adhesion between chips when processing steel materials. It is sufficient to use Ma Mei semi-synthetic water-based cutting fluid MS45 or 46.
4、Ceramic cutting tools
It is sintered at high temperature from alumina, metal and carbide, and its high temperature wear resistance is even better than that of hard alloy, generally using dry cutting, but considering uniform cooling and avoiding high temperature, water-based cutting fluid is also often used.
5、Diamond cutting tools
With extremely high hardness, it is generally used for cutting. To avoid excessive temperatures, as with ceramic materials, water-based cutting fluids are often used in many cases.
Of course, the choice of cutting fluid also needs to be analyzed comprehensively according to the material of the workpiece being processed, the difficulty of the processing process, the processing method, and the working conditions of the processing, and then select.
