IntroducingK420H Series End Tap for Automotive Driveshafts by Puk Precision

  The car half shaft, also known as the drive shaft, is the shaft that connects the differential to the drive wheel, and is an important transmission part of the car. The half shaft is the shaft that transmits torque between the transmission reducer and the drive wheel, and it has a universal joint at each end, which is connected to the gear of the reducer and the inner ring of the hub bearing through the keyway on the universal joint.

  The half shaft is the shaft that transmits the power from the differential to the left and right drive wheels. The half shaft is a solid shaft that transmits a larger torque between the differential and the drive axle, with its inner end generally connected to the half shaft gear of the differential and its outer end connected to the shell of the drive wheel through a flange or keyway.

 Processing difficulties: 

  1. As a safety component of the car, the half shaft has high requirements for the quality of the product, and therefore also for the stability of the tool, which requires the tool life to be stable and the quality of the machined thread (size, position, thread brilliancy) to be stable.
  2. Under the requirement of ultra-long tool life, ensuring 0.1 position accuracy poses a great challenge to the wear resistance of the tap.

  1. K420H lead tap uses powder metallurgy high-speed steel substrate, which can obtain better substrate wear resistance, avoid the diameter of the thread becoming smaller after the tap wears.
  2. K420H Pilot Taps with optimized tap coating can achieve better coating wear resistance, avoid rapid coating wear failure, and at the same time achieve better coating finish, resulting in better thread surface finish.
  3. In the design of K420H, the manufacturing parameters of the tap are optimized to obtain a stronger cutting edge and better tool rigidity.
